Hi. I’m Amy Lynn Couch

Coach | Artist | Cheerleader for Your Self-Care

"Your task is not to seek for love, but merely to seek and find all the barriers within yourself that you have built against it."

-Rumi

I have been a bodyworker and Natural Therapeutics Specialist since 2000 and an avid Qigong practitioner and meditator since 1995. I dovetail the skills of self-care, healing, creativity, and MindBody Medicine I have learned over the years into compassionate coaching with deep listening and understanding to the trials and tribulations we all face. I offer an open heart and a safe, non-judgemental space for you to be fully seen, heard, and felt.

Self-care and wellness did not come naturally to me growing up. Self-destruction did.

From CPTSD, OCD, and addiction recovery along with other mental health challenges, to reprogramming an insecure fearful avoidant attachment style to secure, the transformational path inward to self-awareness as to who I truly am-and what my true values, needs, and desires are-has been nothing short of miraculous.

I was quite seriously like tofu. I took on the tastes and colors of my partners or friend groups just to try and fit in and not be abandoned, yet oscillated between rage, anxiety, and depression.

It takes courage, dedication, and a commitment to self-awareness married with self-compassion to sustainably change lifelong patterns of self-depreciation or self-abandonment and the subconscious beliefs and narratives running our emotions and behaviors. But it is so worth it. You are worth it. EVERYTHING changes when you start talking to yourself differently-with love, compassion, and kindness- and shift the subconscious beliefs patterns that have been running the show under the surface.

From tuning into the old, self-defeating stories running on autopilot in your head to learning what it is you truly need to feel cared for in any given moment, we will work as partners to mine for the gold that has been lying hidden underneath the layers of old programming. We will work to discover limiting beliefs that may be holding you back and reprogram them, discover what your values are to guide you as the true north of your own inner compass, and uncover your true feelings and needs and develop strategies to meet them. I am here to support you in your own self-advocacy.

Learning how to speak appropriate boundaries to those who might try to push past what is actually healthy for you is an art in itself. You will learn how to stand strong in your own center and know what a true yes and true no feels like for you in your own body. Not only for your own health, but for the health of your relationship to others. Resentment and burnout breeds under the surface if we keep saying yes when our bodies and intuition are screaming no.

It takes practice to be able to listen into one’s own inner being and meet the difficult feelings with love and compassion-without numbing and distracting. And then it takes a whole lot more practice to learn how to speak your boundaries to another with kind firmness and consistency, staying centered in your power and worth. As my teacher Thais Gibson says, “Boundaries are the art of taking yourself into consideration.”

Please allow me the honor to walk beside you as your coach to support you in regaining balance between your output of energy-whether from caregiving, parenting, overworking in your career, or any other demanding life circumstances-and your input of restorative, rejuvenating viriditas energy. AKA, self-care.

The Importance of Creativity in the Work We Do Together.

Tree of Life oil painting by Amy Lynn Couch

Over the years I have used various creative methods to heal Complex Post Traumatic Stress Disorder and can testify to to the immense healing potential for personal transformation by tap rooting into the creative well-spring that each of us lay claim to and were born with.

All of the work I do is inspired by my own healing journey through life. From spiritual seeking, shamanic practices, psychotherapy, daily journalling, and meditation, to a host of other alternative healing practices, I have sought to heal the fractures in my own being. CPTSD, addiction, and mental health challenges plagued me for much of my life. Art making, alongside all of these other practices, has been a way to experience a sense of refuge, connect with my own resilience, strength, and vulnerability, and engender a sense of joy, ease, flow, and grace. Creative expression in all forms was and is an integral part of the process of returning to a felt sense of wholeness. I see creativity as a spiritual thread inherent in every individual that weaves through all of the Four Pillars of Self-Care & Wellness. How it expresses in and through you will be as unique and magnificent as you are.

Where does creativity fit in? In a word? Everywhere.

Creativity can be as simple as making a new choice for yourself. Pausing before the old reactivity hijacks your self-awareness and actions. Taking a breath, questioning the old story and fashioning a new, more empowering narrative that leads to a new choice, behavior, and outcome. Allowing for the space, flexibility, and expansiveness of a new idea to arise naturally from your being is creativity in action.

I believe everyone of us is wired for creative expression and healing. It's part and parcel of our humanity. If you think you don't have a creative bone in your body, think again. Every bone and cell in your body and every breath you take is infused with the Creative Power of Viriditas. It's like the apps on your phone that come preloaded, and you can't get rid of them no matter how hard you try. You can ignore them and forget about them, but they're still there. Creativity is like that. Sometimes we just need to take the time to reload it and begin working with it to get the flow started again. Maybe you think you lost it sometime in childhood or when you grew into a serious adult, but it's still there. It is your birthright and infuses every cell of your being.

Claim it. Make space for it. Work with it. Play with it. And I promise you, IT will begin to work on you.

Taking the time to write in a journal daily to witness and process your thoughts and feelings, or dancing out frustration and anger, or digesting and metabolizing stuck emotions through whole body vocal toning, scribbling with crayons or doodling with a pen, a new spice when cooking, etc… are all ways creativity can show up in your life and begin to loosen then death grip old patterns have on our lives. Ariditas chokes our life force energy to a trickle. Or a dry river bed where nothing grows anymore.

The good news is, we can open the flow of creativity (and Viriditas) anytime. It is always there waiting for us to turn the valve to open again. Clean the rust and calcification off and begin tasting the clear life giving waters of the truth of our hearts and the deepest expression of who we truly are.
